A JOINT MEMORIAL

REQUESTING THAT THE STATE HIGHWAY COMMISSION REINSTATE TO ITS FIVE-YEAR PRIORITY LIST IMPROVEMENTS TO NEW MEXICO ROUTE 509 FROM PUEBLO PINTADO ROAD TO NEW MEXICO ROUTE 550.



WHEREAS, New Mexico route 509 from Pueblo Pintado road to New Mexico route 550 is heavily traveled and services such communities as Counselor, Cuba, Nageezi, Pueblo Pintado and Torreon and enables the residents of these communities to reach Albuquerque; and

WHEREAS, New Mexico route 509 is dangerous, having numerous potholes, and is impassable in inclement weather; and

WHEREAS, New Mexico route 509 must be used by many residents to reach San Juan general hospital in Farmington; and

WHEREAS, New Mexico route 509 was previously scheduled for completion by the state highway commission;

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF NEW MEXICO that the state highway commission be requested to reinstate to its five-year priority list improvements to New Mexico route 509 from Pueblo Pintado road to New Mexico route 550; and

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that copies of this memorial be transmitted to the chairman of the state highway commission.
