House Joint Memorial
58 recognizes the importance of the work of the New Mexico Coalition for
Literacy in helping to eradiate adult illiteracy in New Mexico for the past 15
years.
Significant
Issues
The memorial indicates that over the past 15
years:

Approximately 45,000 adult students have been
served by volunteer literacy programs statewide;

18,000 volunteer tutors have received training
from the New Mexico Coalition for Literacy;

Volunteers have provided approximately 1,200,000
hours of instruction;

The value of these services equates to $1,230.0
