Synopsis
of Memorial
Senate Memorial 22 recognizes and congratulates
participants in “Operation Avalanche,” a combined and coordinated federal,
state and local law enforcement effort in Taos County.
Significant
Issues
SM 22 cites the willingness and ability of
various local, state and federal law enforcement agencies to work together for
“Operation Avalanche.” “Operation Avalanche” was planned and implemented over a
period of 16 months, with federal, state and local law enforcement personnel
accruing over 1,600 overtime hours associated with “Operation Avalanche.” SM 22 also cites a 65 percent reduction in
the crime rate resulting from the operation.
