SUMMARY

     Synopsis of Bill

Senate Joint Memorial 6 requests the Economic Development Department to support the Amateur International Sports Educational Federation and the Amateur Athletic World Hall of Fame Museum in their efforts to promote self-discipline, self-confidence, honor and integrity and foster more positive lifestyles.

     Significant Issues

The joint memorial indicates that the federation and the hall of fame will hold annual world sports events in a different country each year.  The first event will be held in New Mexico and the headquarters of the federation and the hall of fame will also be in New Mexico.  The agency indicates that if the event, headquarters and hall of fame museum are located in New Mexico, then an opportunity will exist for national and international exposure to the assets of New Mexico and its communities.  This will assist in the economic development of New Mexico and would enhance the Economic Development Department’s efforts in promoting New Mexico and its communities.

FISCAL IMPLICATIONS

There is no appropriation or significant fiscal implication associated with this joint memorial.
