SUMMARY
Synopsis
of Bill
Senate
Bill 398 amends Section 3-31-1 NMSA 1978 to add public parking lots to
the list of projects which may be funded through gasoline tax revenue bonds,
gasoline tax, and the street and road improvement fund. It also adds public parking lots to the list
of allowable projects for improvement districts and to the list of items that
rights-of-way may be acquired for.
Additionally, the bill contains technical changes that clarify current
language by replacing the word times with "multiplied by"
pertaining to distribution calculations.
Significant
Issues
According to the Department of Finance and
Administration (DFA), the addition of the public
parking lots to the list of allowable projects will potentially reduce the
amount of funds available for street maintenance.
FISCAL IMPLICATIONS
According to DFA, SB
398 will not impact the general fund.
