SUMMARY
Synopsis
of Bill
Senate Bill 234 amends Section
14-8-12.2 NMSA 1978, to increase the amount county clerks may charge for each recorded
instrument. The amended language changes the maximum allowable fee from $3.00
to $4.00 for each instrument recorded.
FISCAL IMPLICATIONS
This bill would increase county
government revenue to help offset the operating costs of county clerk’s
offices.
OTHER SUBSTANTIVE ISSUES
The Local Government Division of the
Department of Finance and Administration monitors all revenues distributed and
generated by New Mexico counties.
