SUMMARY
Synopsis
of Bill
Senate Bill 210 amends Section 60-2E-5 NMSA 1978
changing the membership of the Gaming Control Board by: (1) increasing the
governor-appointed public membership from three to four members, with the additional
member being one who has knowledge and experience in business management and
financing and (2) eliminating the chairman of the New Mexico Lottery Authority
as an ex-officio member. This bill also
specifies that the appointed public member and the ex-officio member of the
GCB, the chairman of the State Racing Commission, shall not receive salaries
for their work of the Board but are entitled to per diem and mileage. Additionally, the bill clarifies that the
chair of the GCB is to be selected from the three full-time salaried members.
FISCAL IMPLICATIONS
There should not be any additional fiscal impact
to the GCB budget since the Board membership stays at five with two members
still eligible for per diem and mileage and three still full-time salaried
employees.
