SUMMARY
Synopsis
of Bill
Senate Bill 56
appropriates $5,116,825 from the general fund to SAOA for the following
purposes:

Issues
The following services qualify for federal
Medicaid funding: home chore/home
repair, home modification, homemaker services, transportation, case management,
screening/eligibility determination and outreach/education.
FISCAL IMPLICATIONS
The appropriation of
$5,116.8 contained in this bill is a recurring expense to the general fund. Any
unexpended or unencumbered balance remaining at the end of FY03 shall revert to
the general fund.
House Bill 2 currently
provides $28,941.4 for the SAOA budget which funds all of the items proposed in
this bill. Additionally, HB2 contains
$6.7 million for the disabled and elderly Medicaid waiver in the Human Services
Department which provides funding for nursing and community-based services.
