House Joint Memorial
10 requests the Commission on Higher Education (CHE), in collaboration with the
State Department of Education (SDE), study the feasibility of instituting a
minor in the teaching of reading as a requirement for granting teacher
certification in elementary education.
Significant
Issues
House Joint Memorial 10 recognizes the
importance of having well-trained teachers of reading in the classroom and
reflects the thinking that elementary teachers should receive more training
than is currently provided and\or required.
