SUMMARY

 

     Synopsis of Bill

 

House Bill 356 appropriates $790.0 from the general fund to New Mexico State University for the associate of nursing degree program at the Alamogordo branch campus to graduate more nurses,  recruit qualified nursing faculty and retain nursing faculty.

 

     Significant Issues

 

Included in HB2/HAFCS, is an additional appropriation in the amount of $20.0 for Alamogordo.  The purpose of the funding is to address market salary needs, or to convert nursing faculty from a 9-month contract to a 12-month contract or to expand nursing student enrollments.

 

FISCAL IMPLICATIONS

 

The appropriation of $790.0 contained in this bill is a recurring expense to the general fund. Any unexpended or unencumbered balance remaining at the end of fiscal year 2004 shall revert to the general fund.
