SUMMARY
Synopsis
of Bill
House Bill 267
appropriates $80.0 from the general fund to DOH for the purpose of providing services
to individuals who have been negatively affected by uranium mining by
establishing an uranium workers office in Thoreau.
FISCAL IMPLICATIONS
The appropriation of
$80.0 contained in this bill is a recurring expense to the general fund. Any unexpended
or unencumbered balance remaining at the end of FY03 shall revert to the
general fund.
HB 2 et al contains a
budget for Miners’ Colfax Medical Center of $17.8 million, largely from the
land grant permanent fund dedicated to the Miners’ Hospital. The Miners’ Hospital is statutorily
charged to provide
medical services to all the state’s miners and their families as well as people
in the region.
ADMINISTRATIVE IMPLICATIONS
Miners’ Colfax Medical
Center is funded with state permanent fund to provide healthcare services to
miners. They provide traveling clinics around the state to offer medical
services for miners.
