MAKING AN APPROPRIATION FOR ARTS EDUCATION IN SCHOOLS AND PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT IN ARTS EDUCATION FOR TEACHERS.

BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF NEW MEXICO:

Section 1. APPROPRIATION.--Three million four hundred thousand dollars ($3,400,000) is appropriated from the general fund to the state department of public education for expenditure in fiscal year 2003, of which three million dollars ($3,000,000) is to implement arts education in public schools and four hundred thousand dollars ($400,000) is to fund professional development in arts education for teachers. Any unexpended or unencumbered balance remaining at the end of fiscal year 2003 shall revert to the general fund.
