MAKING AN APPROPRIATION TO THE PUBLIC DEFENDER DEPARTMENT FOR TWO ADDITIONAL ATTORNEY POSITIONS.

BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF NEW MEXICO:

Section 1. APPROPRIATION.--

A. Eighty-seven thousand six hundred dollars ($87,600) is appropriated from the general fund to the public defender department for expenditure in fiscal year 2003 in the following amounts for the following purposes:

(1) forty-three thousand six hundred dollars ($43,600) to provide a salary and benefits for an attorney for the juvenile mental health unit; and

(2) forty-four thousand dollars ($44,000) to provide a salary and benefits for an attorney to serve in the juvenile drug court in the third judicial district.

B. Any unexpended or unencumbered balance remaining at the end of fiscal year 2003 shall revert to the general fund.
