AN ACT

MAKING AN APPROPRIATION TO PROVIDE FAMILY HEALTH EDUCATION; DECLARING AN EMERGENCY.



BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF NEW MEXICO:

Section 1. APPROPRIATION.--Three hundred thousand dollars ($300,000) is appropriated from the general fund to the department of health for expenditure in fiscal years 2002 and 2003 for the purpose of educating low-income families on traditional family health care techniques, nutrition, home first aid and how to obtain necessary health care services. Any unexpended or unencumbered balance remaining at the end of fiscal year 2003 shall revert to the general fund.

Section 2. EMERGENCY.--It is necessary for the public peace, health and safety that this act take effect immediately.
