MAKING AN APPROPRIATION TO WESTERN NEW MEXICO UNIVERSITY TO FUND INITIATIVES PROVIDING ASSISTANCE TO DISPLACED WORKERS AND TO SUPPORT REGIONAL ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT ACTIVITIES.

BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF NEW MEXICO:

Section 1. APPROPRIATION.--Four hundred fifty thousand dollars ($450,000) is appropriated from the general fund to the board of regents of western New Mexico university for expenditure in fiscal years 2002 and 2003 for the purpose of funding initiatives providing assistance to approximately one thousand displaced workers and their families and to support regional economic development activities. Any unexpended or unencumbered balance remaining at the end of fiscal year 2003 shall revert to the general fund.
