MAKING AN APPROPRIATION FOR A SEVEN PERCENT INCREASE IN SALARIES FOR PUBLIC SCHOOL TEACHERS, OTHER INSTRUCTIONAL STAFF AND CERTIFIED AND NON-CERTIFIED STAFF.

BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF NEW MEXICO:

Section 1. APPROPRIATION.--One hundred two million two hundred thousand dollars ($102,200,000) is appropriated from the general fund to the state equalization guarantee distribution for expenditure in fiscal year 2003 to provide a seven percent salary increase for teachers, other instructional staff and certified and non-certified staff of public schools statewide. Any unexpended or unencumbered balance remaining at the end of fiscal year 2003 shall revert to the general fund.
