MAKING AN APPROPRIATION FOR A SPECIAL ADVOCACY POSITION IN THE PUBLIC DEFENDER DEPARTMENT FOR YOUTH WITH DEVELOPMENTAL DISABILITIES OR MENTAL HEALTH ISSUES.

BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF NEW MEXICO:

Section 1. APPROPRIATION.--Fifty-six thousand dollars ($56,000) is appropriated from the general fund to the public defender department for expenditure in fiscal year 2003 to support a statewide advocacy position to ensure appropriate representation for youth with developmental disabilities or mental health issues. Any unexpended or unencumbered balance remaining at the end of fiscal year 2003 shall revert to the general fund.
