AN ACT

RELATING TO PUBLIC EDUCATION; ENACTING A NEW SECTION OF THE BRAILLE LITERACY ACT; PROVIDING FOR ACCESS TO INSTRUCTIONAL MATERIAL IN BRAILLE.



BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF NEW MEXICO:

Section 1. A new section of the Braille Literacy Act is enacted to read:

"[NEW MATERIAL] BRAILLE INSTRUCTIONAL MATERIALS.--A publisher that sells instructional materials to a school shall provide, upon request, instructional material in a computer or electronic format for the purpose of converting the information into braille, large print or alternative accessible format. Nothing in this section shall authorize a use of the instructional material that would constitute an infringement of a copyright."
