FOR THE CORRECTIONS OVERSIGHT AND JUSTICE COMMITTEE

AN ACT

MAKING AN APPROPRIATION TO THE CORRECTIONS DEPARTMENT TO CONTRACT FOR WOMEN'S INPATIENT SUBSTANCE ABUSE TREATMENT BEDS AS AN ALTERNATIVE TO PRISON.

BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF NEW MEXICO:

Section 1. APPROPRIATION.--Two hundred fifty thousand dollars ($250,000) is appropriated from the general fund to the corrections department for expenditure in fiscal year 2003 to contract for women's inpatient substance abuse treatment beds as an alternative to prison. Any unexpended or unencumbered balance remaining at the end of fiscal year 2003 shall revert to the general fund.
