HOUSE FLOOR AMENDMENT number ___1___ to HOUSE BILL 8

1. On page 1, line 13, after the semicolon insert "ALLOWING AN EXTRAORDINARY MAJORITY VOTE OF LEGISLATURE TO CHANGE THE DISTRIBUTION IN THE FUTURE;".

2. On page 2, line 11, strike the underscored words and insert in lieu thereof "through D".

3. On page 2, line 12, after "C" insert "or D".

4. On page 3, line 7, strike the quotation marks and between lines 7 and 8, insert the following new subsection:

"D. Beginning July 1, 2004, an annual distribution may be made from the tobacco settlement permanent fund to the tobacco settlement program fund in an amount that exceeds the distribution provided for in Subsection B of this section if the legislature, by a three-fifths' vote of the elected members in each house, votes in favor of increasing the distribution to the tobacco settlement program fund."".
