A JOINT MEMORIAL

REQUESTING THE STATE HIGHWAY COMMISSION TO DESIGNATE INTERSTATE 25 FROM THE COLORADO BORDER TO LAS CRUCES AS "VETERANS MEMORIAL HIGHWAY".



WHEREAS, many citizens of New Mexico have served in the armed forces of the United States; and

WHEREAS, it is fitting to recognize and honor those veterans for their contribution to this nation and this state; and

WHEREAS, the state highway commission has a procedure for giving highways honorary names;

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF NEW MEXICO that the state highway commission be requested to designate the New Mexico portion of interstate 25, from the Colorado-New Mexico border to Las Cruces, as "Veterans Memorial Highway"; and

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that copies of this memorial be transmitted to the state highway commissioners and the secretary of highway and transportation.
