REQUESTING THE PRESIDENT OF THE UNITED STATES TO APPOINT MR. TOM BACA AS ASSISTANT SECRETARY FOR ENVIRONMENTAL MANAGEMENT.
WHEREAS, the department of energy facilities and functions are an extremely important activity in the state of New Mexico, to the United States of America and to her citizens; and
WHEREAS, the department of energy manages the largest environmental program wherein nuclear environmental and safety programs directly impact New Mexico, our nation and the world; and
WHEREAS, the department of energy is seeking the best qualified person in the United States to manage the environmental programs for the department of energy; and
WHEREAS, Mr. Tom Baca is a native of New Mexico with over thirty years of successful environmental, nuclear and safety experience in New Mexico and throughout the country;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE STATE OF NEW MEXICO that in order to ensure a safe, responsible and successful environmental program within the department of energy, the state of New Mexico and the United States, the president of the United States be requested to appoint Mr. Tom Baca to the position of assistant secretary for environmental management within the United States department of energy; and
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that copies of this memorial be transmitted to the president of the United States.
