RECOGNIZING THE NEW MEXICO DISTINGUISHED PUBLIC SERVICE AWARDS PROGRAM.
WHEREAS, the New Mexico distinguished public service awards program has honored more than three hundred New Mexicans for their contributions to public service in New Mexico during the past thirty-one years; and
WHEREAS, the program has recently become more formalized and organized itself as a nonprofit corporation in New Mexico, with its archives established at the university of New Mexico school of public administration; and
WHEREAS, the program, in the current academic year, began granting scholarships for graduate education in public service in New Mexico; and
WHEREAS, another group of distinguished New Mexicans will be recognized for their contributions to public service at the distinguished public service awards program annual dinner in Albuquerque on May 18, 2001;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF NEW MEXICO that the New Mexico distinguished public service awards program be recognized for its own contributions to public service through its recognition of others; and
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the legislature encourage all federal, state, local and Native American governmental entities in New Mexico and business and civic organizations to support the New Mexico distinguished public service awards program; and
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that copies of this memorial be transmitted to the New Mexico distinguished public service awards program.
