Synopsis of SRC Amendment
The Senate Rules Committee amendment to Senate Joint Resolution 16 changes the proposed provision that school elections be held with the general election and specifies that they will be held on the first Tuesday after the first Monday in November in each odd-numbered year.
Synopsis of Original Bill
Senate Joint Resolution 16 proposes a constitutional amendment to update the New Mexico Constitution to reflect the federal voting age and to provide that regular school district election are to be held during the regular general election.
FISCAL IMPLICATIONS
The resolution does not contain an appropriation. If passed, the proposed constitutional amendment must be translated, published and printed by the Secretary of State. The agency estimates a cost of $30.0, which is absorbed in the agency's operating budget.
