SUMMARY



Synopsis of Bill



A joint memorial resolving that CYFD convene a task force to study the means to increase compensation for early childhood education and family support professionals. The task force is to include representatives of early childhood education and family support professionals, advocates of these professions, head start programs, elementary and higher education and DOH. The task force is to review successful models of compensation from other states and develop a plan to increase compensation for those professionals so that their salaries are commensurate with individuals with equivalent educational requirements in other fields. The task force is report its findings and recommendations to the interim legislative health and human services committee and legislative education study committee at their October 2001 meetings.



ADMINISTRATIVE IMPLICATIONS



CYFD will have to develop a meeting schedule to carry out the tasks in this memorial and will have to conduct the study using available personnel and resources.
