SUMMARY
Synopsis of Bill
Senate Bill 773 amends the Bail Bondsman Licensing Law to limit bail bondsman to not more than five individuals to serve as solicitors. The bill make technical revisions to the current statute.
Significant Issues
According to the PRC, approximately 75 bail bondsman operate in New Mexico. These bondsman employ slightly more than 172 solicitors. Limiting the number of solicitors per bondsman would impact those companies that operate throughout the state or conduct a higher level of business and thus require more than five solicitors. Enactment of the bill could restrict the amount of work for bail bondsman companies.
Senate Bill 773 relates to Senate Bill 772.
FISCAL IMPLICATIONS
Senate Bill 773 does not carry an appropriation and will not have a fiscal impact on the PRC.
