Synopsis of Bill



Senate Bill 704 requires the Corrections Department, the General Services Department and the Economic Development Department to enter into a joint powers agreement to make the old state penitentiary at Santa Fe available for use by the motion picture industry.



Significant Issues



The bill provides that all property and structures within the existing security fence must also be made available to the motion picture industry. Any building that is not in used by the Corrections Department that is within three hundred yards of the outside perimeter fence may be made available for lease at reasonable market rates to the motion picture industry for economic development.



FISCAL IMPLICATIONS



There is no appropriation or significant fiscal implication associated with this bill.
