SUMMARY

Synopsis of Bill

SB 524 appropriates $ 150,000 from the general fund to the governing board of San Juan college for the purpose of expanding the school's nursing program. The appropriation is made for fiscal year 2002 and subsequent years.

FISCAL IMPLICATIONS

The appropriation of $ 150.0 contained in this bill is a recurring expense to the general fund. Any unexpended or unencumbered balance remaining at the end of FY02 or any other subsequent fiscal year shall revert to the general fund.

SIMILAR RELATIONSHIP

SB 524 relates to the following bills:

•HB 37 makes an appropriate of $1,633, 500 from the general fund to the University of New Mexico for expenditure in fiscal years 2001 and 2002 to expand College of Nursing enrollments.

•HB 043 appropriates $5,038,100 to the University of New Mexico for UNM's Health Sciences Center instruction and general expenditures. The appropriation includes $643,000 to expand College of Nursing enrollment.

•HB 312 and SB 216 appropriate $275,000 to Western New Mexico University (WNMU) for expenditure in FY 2001 and 2002 for a Bachelor of Science in Nursing program.
