Synopsis of Bill
Senate Bill 388 appropriates $639.5 in general fund to SAOA to provide basic health insurance, retirement and leave benefits to employees of private, non-profit contractors providing services to senior citizens.
Significant Issues
FISCAL IMPLICATIONS
The appropriation of $639.5 contained in this bill is a recurring expense to the general fund. Any unexpended or unencumbered balance remaining at the end of FY02 shall revert to the general fund.
RELATIONSHIP
SB388 relates to HB2 which contains SAOA's base budget for FY02, and to HB267, Statewide Senior Citizen Programs, which requests funding to enhance services to seniors.
TECHNICAL ISSUES
SAOA indicates the bill language should include "retirement benefits".
