The Senate Rules Committee amendment to Senate Bill 16 changes the proposed maximum
compensation for members of precinct boards to $150.00/election day.
Synopsis of Original Bill
Senate Bill 16 increases the maximum compensation for members of precinct boards, from $7.00/hr to $125.00/election day.
Significant Issues
According to the agency, recruitment of precinct board members is difficult and an increase in compensation will help their recruitment efforts.
FISCAL IMPLICATIONS
There is no appropriation contained within the bill. Passage of the bill would increase election costs to the local governments because of the higher compensation; however, the impact can be absorb within existing resources.
