SUMMARY
Synopsis of Bill
Senate Bill 14 appropriates $200.0 from the general fund to the Board of Regents of New Mexico State University to help the university comply with federal requirement for equity in women's athletic programs. Any unexpended or unencumbered balance remaining at the end of FY02 shall revert to the general fund.
Significant Issues
According to the CHE Listing of Special Requests Submitted in the FY01 Regular Session, funding was requested for this program. The CHE, however, did not recommend this program for funding.
FISCAL IMPLICATIONS
The appropriation of $200.0 contained in this bill is a recurring expense to the general fund. Any unexpended or unencumbered balance remaining at the end of FY02 shall revert to the general fund.
