Synopsis of HEC Amendment
The House Education Committee strikes the HVEC amendments and removes all reference to regular school districts elections being held during "general elections." It specifically provides that they will be held "on the first Tuesday after the first Monday in November in odd-numbered years."
Synopsis of HVEC Amendment
The House Voters and Elections Committee amendment to House Joint Resolution 26 changes the proposed provision that school elections be held with the general election and specifies that they will be held with the general election on the first Tuesday after the first Monday in odd-numbered years.
Synopsis of Original Bill
House Joint Resolution 26 proposes a constitutional amendment to update the New Mexico Constitution to reflect the federal voting age and to provide that regular school district election are to be held during the regular general election.
FISCAL IMPLICATIONS
The resolution does not contain an appropriation. If passed, the proposed constitutional amendment must be translated, published and printed by the Secretary of State. The agency estimates a cost of $30.0, which is absorbed in the agency's operating budget.
