Synopsis of Bill
House Joint Memorial 19 requests the New Mexico Municipal League and the New Mexico Association of Counties to conduct a study on 1) the terminology used by local governments when discussing zoning classifications and 2) the need for uniformity of the terminology. The memorial asks that the associations report their findings to an interim legislative committee by December 1, 2001.
Significant Issues
The New Mexico Municipal League and the New Mexico Association of Counties represent the state's 103 municipalities and 33 counties, respectively. The memorial notes they are therefore well suited to conduct the study in question.
