SUMMARY
Synopsis of Bill
House Joint Memorial 36 requests that the State Highway Commission and the State Highway and Transportation Department expedite the construction of the Interstate 40-Coors Boulevard interchange improvement project.
Significant Issues
Funding for construction of this intersection ($11 million) was removed from the Statewide Transportation Improvement Program due to the need to assemble funding for the reconstruction of the Big I interchange.
Funding for project design remains in the program. Final funding requirements will be determined by the design process and are likely to be much higher than $11 million which had previously been programmed.
The I-40-Coors Interchange improvement project is still a priority and will be rescheduled when funding is available.
FISCAL IMPLICATIONS
Funding is currently unavailable for this project within the department budget.
