SUMMARY
Synopsis of Bill
House Bill 801 appropriates $25.0 from the general fund to the Tourism Department for the purpose of promoting the international celebration of historic route 66's seventy-fifth anniversary, "Remember the Route."
Significant Issues
The celebration "Remember the Route" is to be held July 21 and 22, 2001 in Albuquerque. According to the department, the celebration will include parades, car shows, arts and crafts fairs, concerts, poetry readings, road rallies, photo exhibits, and a film festival. Other events will take place in the communities on Route 66, from Tucumcari to Gallup.
FISCAL IMPLICATIONS
The appropriation of $25.0 contained in this bill is a recurring expense to the general fund. Any unexpended or unencumbered balance remaining at the end of fiscal year 2002 shall revert to the general fund.
