SENATE CAPITAL OUTLAY REQUEST 13

45TH LEGISLATURE - FIRST SESSION - 2001

REQUESTED BY

FOR SENATE DISTRICT 41 CAPITAL PROJECTS IN LEA COUNTY.

I request that the following capital outlay projects be funded:

to the local government division of the department of finance and administration

two hundred thousand dollars ($200,000) to make improvements to address safety needs, including adding doors and locks, video monitoring, metal detectors and x-ray machines, at the courtroom and clerk's office in Lea county;

one hundred seventy thousand dollars ($170,000) to improve the fairground food service area, including the installation of covered and lighted seating areas and extension of sewer and grease lines, in Lea county;

one hundred thousand dollars ($100,000) to improve the health walk trail, including landscaping, in Lea county;

two hundred thousand dollars ($200,000) to purchase and install equipment for the kitchen of the event center in Lea county;

fifty thousand dollars ($50,000) for renovations to various community centers in Lea county;

two hundred thousand dollars ($200,000) to develop and improve the Towle rest area in Lea county; and

five hundred thousand dollars ($500,000) to construct a new jail, including a treatment facility for alcohol and substance abusers, in Lea county.
