MAKING AN APPROPRIATION FOR ATHLETICS AT VARIOUS POST-SECONDARY EDUCATIONAL INSTITUTIONS.

BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF NEW MEXICO:

Section 1. APPROPRIATION.--

A. The following amounts are appropriated from the general fund to the following institutions for expenditure in fiscal year 2002 to support the following athletic programs:

(1) three hundred thousand dollars ($300,000) to the board of regents of the university of New Mexico to provide for gender equity in athletic programs;

(2) three hundred thousand dollars ($300,000) to the board of regents of New Mexico state university to provide for gender equity in athletic programs;

(3) three hundred thousand dollars ($300,000) to the board of regents of the university of New Mexico to provide for club sports programs;

(4) three hundred thousand dollars ($300,000) to the board of regents of New Mexico state university to provide for club sports programs;

(5) three hundred thousand dollars ($300,000) to the board of regents of eastern New Mexico university to provide for club sports programs;

(6) three hundred thousand dollars ($300,000) to the board of regents of western New Mexico university to provide for club sports programs;

(7) three hundred thousand dollars ($300,000) to the board of regents of New Mexico highlands university to provide for club sports programs; and

(8) three hundred thousand dollars ($300,000) to the board of regents of New Mexico institute of mining and technology to provide for club sports programs.

B. Any unexpended or unencumbered balance remaining at the end of fiscal year 2002 shall revert to the general fund.
