RELATING TO MOTOR VEHICLES; PROVIDING FOR SPECIAL REGISTRATION PLATES FOR RETIRED MEMBERS OF THE NATIONAL GUARD.
BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF NEW MEXICO:
Section 1. Section 66-3-413 NMSA 1978 (being Laws 1980, Chapter 45, Section 1, as amended) is amended to read:
"66-3-413. SPECIAL REGISTRATION PLATES.--
A. The division shall issue distinctive
registration plates to any person who is a member of or
retired from the New Mexico national guard, upon the
submission by the person of proof satisfactory to the division
that he is [currently] a current or retired member of the
guard. No fee shall be collected for issuance of a special
registration plate for active members pursuant to this
section; however, retired members shall be assessed an
administration fee of fifteen dollars ($15.00) annually.
B. No person shall falsely represent himself to be an active member of or retired from the New Mexico national guard so as to be eligible to be issued special registration plates pursuant to this section when he in fact is not a current member of or retired from the New Mexico national guard.
C. Any person who violates the provisions of Subsection B of this section is guilty of a misdemeanor."
