SENATE FLOOR AMENDMENT number _______ to HOUSE BILL 553

Amendment sponsored by Senator

1. On page 1, line 16, strike "Section 59A-22-42", insert in lieu thereof "section of Chapter 59A, Article 22" and on line 18, strike "59A-22-42.".

2. On page 1, line 19, strike "IN" and insert in lieu thereof "OF".

3. On page 4, line 19, remove the bracket and line through "and".

4. On page 4, line 20, strike "; and", insert in lieu thereof a period and strike line 21 in its entirety.

5. On page 4, between lines 21 and 22, insert the following new subsection and subsequent sections:

"D. Requirements for coverage of medical diets for inborn errors of metabolism, provided for in Chapter 59A, Article 22 NMSA 1978, also apply to group health insurance contracts."

Section 3. A new section of Chapter 59A, Article 46 NMSA 1978 is enacted to read:

"[NEW MATERIAL] COVERAGE FOR MEDICAL DIETS FOR INBORN ERRORS OF METABOLISM.--As of July 1, 2001, each health maintenance organization that delivers or issues for delivery in the state an individual or group contract shall provide coverage for the treatment of inborn errors of metabolism as set forth

in Chapter 59A, Article 22 NMSA 1978.".

Section 4. A new section of Chapter 59A, Article 47 NMSA 1978 is enacted to read:

"[NEW MATERIAL] COVERAGE FOR MEDICAL DIETS FOR INBORN ERRORS OF METABOLISM.--As of July 1, 2001, subscriber contracts of a health care plan shall also be subject to coverage for medical diets for inborn errors of metabolism as required of health insurers in Chapter 59A, Article 22 NMSA 1978."".
