MAKING AN APPROPRIATION TO THE STATE DEPARTMENT OF PUBLIC EDUCATION TO PROVIDE A STATEWIDE EDUCATION AND SUPPORT PROGRAM FOR PREGNANT TEENS AND TEEN PARENTS.

BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF NEW MEXICO:

Section 1. APPROPRIATION.--Six hundred twenty-five thousand dollars ($625,000) is appropriated from the general fund to the state department of public education for expenditure in fiscal year 2002 to provide a statewide education and support program for pregnant teens and teen parents to assist them in completing their education, providing optimum health care and nutrition for themselves and their children and encouraging their leadership development and career exploration efforts. Any unexpended or unencumbered balance remaining at the end of fiscal year 2002 shall revert to the general fund.
