AN ACT

RELATING TO TOURISM; MAKING APPROPRIATIONS FOR INCREASED TOURISM ACTIVITIES BY STATE AGENCIES.



BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF NEW MEXICO:

Section 1. APPROPRIATION TO TOURISM DEPARTMENT.--Four million one hundred forty-five thousand dollars ($4,145,000) is appropriated from the general fund to the tourism department to be expended in fiscal year 2002 for the following activities in the indicated amounts:

A. two million six hundred thousand dollars ($2,600,000) for general advertising;

B. one million one hundred twenty thousand dollars ($1,120,000) for cooperative advertising;

C. one hundred twenty-five thousand dollars ($125,000) for contract expense for research and accountability; and

D. three hundred thousand dollars ($300,000) for inquiry fulfillment.

Section 2. APPROPRIATION TO OFFICE OF CULTURAL AFFAIRS.--Forty-six thousand five hundred dollars ($46,500) is appropriated from the general fund to the office of cultural affairs for expenditure in fiscal year 2002 for advertising programs to promote tourism.

Section 3. APPROPRIATION TO STATE PARKS DIVISION.--Thirty thousand dollars ($30,000) is appropriated from the general fund to the state parks division of the energy, minerals and natural resources department for expenditure in fiscal year 2002 for advertising programs to promote tourism.

Section 4. APPROPRIATION TO GOVERNOR'S COMMITTEE ON CONCERNS OF THE HANDICAPPED.--Twenty-three thousand five hundred dollars ($23,500) is appropriated from the general fund to the governor's committee on concerns of the handicapped for expenditure in fiscal year 2002 for advertising programs to promote tourism.

Section 5. UNEXPENDED FUNDS TO REVERT.--Any unexpended or unencumbered balances remaining at the end of fiscal year 2002 from the appropriations made in Sections 1 through 4 of this act shall revert to the general fund.
