AN ACT

RELATING TO EDUCATION; PROVIDING FOR ACADEMIC COMPETITIONS.



BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF NEW MEXICO:

Section 1. A new section of the Public School Code is enacted to read:

"[NEW MATERIAL] ACADEMIC COMPETITIONS.--Each public school in each conference shall provide academic competitions similar to its athletic competitions. A student who participates in an academic competition shall qualify for an academic letter in the subject in which he competes. Academic competitions between schools shall be governed by the New Mexico activities association."
