MAKING AN APPROPRIATION TO THE CHILDREN, YOUTH AND FAMILIES DEPARTMENT FOR A COMPREHENSIVE STUDY ON FATHERLESSNESS IN THE STATE AND FOR A MEDIA CAMPAIGN AND ACTION PLAN TO REDUCE FATHERLESSNESS.
BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF NEW MEXICO:
Section 1. APPROPRIATION.--One hundred twenty-five thousand dollars ($125,000) is appropriated from the general fund to the children, youth and families department for expenditure in fiscal year 2002 to conduct a comprehensive research study on the effect of fatherlessness in the state; to share the study's findings with an appropriate legislative interim committee and key community organizations; to develop an action plan to reduce fatherlessness; to develop a print, radio and television campaign to reduce fatherlessness in the state; and to present its findings in a written report to the legislature. Any unexpended or unencumbered balance remaining at the end of fiscal year 2002 shall revert to the general fund.
