MAKING AN APPROPRIATION FOR PUBLIC EDUCATION ABOUT ORGAN DONATION.
BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF NEW MEXICO:
Section 1. APPROPRIATION.--
A. The following amounts are appropriated from the general fund to the department of health for expenditure in fiscal years 2001 and 2002 for the following purposes:
(1) seventy-five thousand dollars ($75,000) to publish multicultural brochures for distribution to motor vehicle division offices statewide about the need for and benefits of organ donation and how easy it is for drivers to indicate their donor status on their driver's licenses; and
(2) one hundred seventy-five thousand dollars ($175,000) for a public media campaign to educate the public about organ donation.
B. Any unexpended or unencumbered balance remaining at the end of fiscal year 2002 shall revert to the general fund.
