45th legislature - STATE OF NEW MEXICO - first session, 2001
RELATING TO MUSEUM FACILITIES; PROVIDING FOR IMPROVEMENTS TO MUSEUM FACILITIES IN NEW MEXICO; MAKING APPROPRIATIONS.
BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF NEW MEXICO:
Section 1. LEGISLATIVE FINDINGS.--
A. The legislature finds that museums play a critical role in the education of children of New Mexico.
B. The legislature further finds that the expansion and improvement of museum facilities is of statewide importance, and there is broad legislative interest in this matter.
Section 2. APPROPRIATIONS.--
A. Ten million dollars ($10,000,000) is appropriated from the general fund to the office of cultural affairs for expenditure in fiscal year 2002 in the following amounts for the following purposes:
(1) nine million dollars ($9,000,000) for improvements to the palace of the governors in Santa Fe county; and
(2) one million dollars ($1,000,000) for improvements to the museum of natural history in Bernalillo county.
B. Four million dollars ($4,000,000) is appropriated from the general fund to the local government division of the department of finance and administration for expenditure in fiscal year 2002 in the following amounts for the following purposes:
(1) one million dollars ($1,000,000) for improvements to the national atomic museum in Bernalillo county;
(2) one million dollars ($1,000,000) for improvements to the explora museum in Bernalillo county;
(3) one million dollars ($1,000,000) for improvements to the Albuquerque museum in Bernalillo county; and
(4) one million dollars ($1,000,000) for improvements to the Andersen-Abruzzo international balloon museum in Bernalillo county.
C. Any unexpended or unencumbered balance from the appropriations in Subsections A and B of this section remaining at the end of fiscal year 2002 shall revert to the general fund.
