REQUESTING THE STATE PARKS DIVISION OF THE ENERGY, MINERALS AND NATURAL RESOURCES DEPARTMENT TO STUDY THE FEASIBILITY OF AND ASSIST THE DEVELOPMENT OF MASTER FACILITY PLANS FOR THE DONA ANA EDUCATIONAL CAMP AND RECREATIONAL PARK IN CHAPARRAL IN DONA ANA COUNTY.
WHEREAS, at-risk youth benefit from educational and recreational experiences in the outdoors; and
WHEREAS, the Dona Ana educational camp and recreational park near the community of Chaparral is being planned as a facility to provide alternatives for youth; and
WHEREAS, the facility may serve as a model for other outdoor experiences for youth throughout the state;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF NEW MEXICO that the state parks division of the energy, minerals and natural resources department be requested to conduct a feasibility study and help develop a facility master plan for the Dona Ana educational camp and recreational park; and
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that copies of this memorial be transmitted to the secretary of energy, minerals and natural resources and to the director of the state parks division.
