Synopsis of Bill
House Bill 28 appropriates $60.0 in recurring general fund for FY00 and FY01 to the Second Judicial District Attorney and $150.0 in recurring general fund for FY00 and FY01 to the Second Judicial District Court for costs related to reindicting cases invalidated by the Supreme Court opinion in State v. Ulibarri and Popplewell. The Supreme Court opined that juries had been improperly instructed in a significant number of cases in the Second Judicial District and that indictments in these cases were no longer valid.
FISCAL IMPLICATIONS
House Bill 28 appropriates $210.0 in recurring general fund.
