A MEMORIAL

REQUESTING THE DEPARTMENT OF DEFENSE AND THE UNITED STATES AIR FORCE AND THE GOVERNMENT OF GERMANY TO PROVIDE INFORMATION ON GERMAN AIR FORCE TRAINING PROTOCOLS AND CRASHES TO STATE AND LOCAL OFFICIALS.



WHEREAS, two German air force planes flying out of Holloman air force base have crashed near developed areas during training missions in New Mexico; and

WHEREAS, one of the crashes occurred near a gas transmission facility that posed a serious threat to life, property and the environment; and

WHEREAS, local and state officials have sought information on the causes and measures taken to prevent future crashes;

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE SENATE OF THE STATE OF NEW MEXICO that the department of defense and the United States air force and the German air force command at Holloman air force base be requested to provide information to state and local officials regarding flight paths, preventive measures, safety protocols, crash response and damage mitigation and remedial actions; and

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the government of Germany be requested to provide copies of the official German government crash report on the collision of German air force fighter planes that occurred near Carlsbad, New Mexico on September 24, 1999; and

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the government of Germany be requested to supply the names of all German military personnel involved in the crash and the names and qualifications of the German officials who conducted the crash investigation; and

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that copies of this memorial be transmitted to the secretaries of defense and the United States air force, the German air force command at Holloman air force base and the New Mexico congressional delegation.
