EXPRESSING THE CONDOLENCE OF THE SENATE UPON THE PASSING OF DONALD D. MONTOYA.
WHEREAS, Donald D. Montoya died on February 4, 2000; and
WHEREAS, he was born in Santa Fe, attended St. Anne's school before entering seminary to become a priest, left to graduate from St. Michael's high school, went to college at Portland university on a scholarship and then received his law degree from the university of New Mexico; and
WHEREAS, Donald's passions included fishing, camping, racquetball, working as an advocate for his clients, and most of all, taking care of others; and
WHEREAS, former governor Toney Anaya said, "He always gave every bit of himself to public service...he turned judicial appointments down. He wanted to help others as an attorney."; and
WHEREAS, he is survived by his wife, Betty; two daughters, Nina and Elicia; a son-in-law, Kurt; his parents, Bennie and Soraida; his brothers and sisters, Diana, Enrique, Therese, Monica and Marcus; and numerous nieces, nephews, other family members and friends;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE SENATE OF THE STATE OF NEW MEXICO that condolences be extended to the family and friends of Donald D. Montoya, a loving and devoted New Mexican; and
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that copies of this memorial be transmitted to the family of Donald D. Montoya.
