A MEMORIAL

REQUESTING THE FINANCIAL INSTITUTIONS DIVISION OF THE REGULATION AND LICENSING DEPARTMENT AND ITS COUNTERPART AGENCY IN THE STATE OF COLORADO TO ASSIST THE BOARD OF TRUSTEES OF THE TIERRA AMARILLA LAND GRANT IN LOCATING A TRUST ACCOUNT CONTAINING ASSETS BELONGING TO THE TIERRA AMARILLA LAND GRANT.



WHEREAS, the Tierra Amarilla land grant, although originally a private land grant, has historically been used as a community land grant and was confirmed as a community land grant by act of its board of trustees; and

WHEREAS, the board of trustees of the Tierra Amarilla land grant is charged with safeguarding the assets of the grant; and

WHEREAS, it appears that there may be assets of the Tierra Amarilla land grant kept as trust accounts in one or more banks in the state of Colorado; and

WHEREAS, efforts to date have failed to locate and identify land grant assets kept as trust accounts in Colorado banks;

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE SENATE OF THE STATE OF NEW MEXICO that the financial institutions division of the regulation and licensing department and its counterpart agency in the state of Colorado be requested to assist the board of trustees of the Tierra Amarilla land grant in locating any land grant assets that may be held in the state of Colorado; and

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that copies of this memorial be transmitted to the financial institutions division of the regulation and licensing department and its counterpart agency in the state of Colorado.
